Do light leisure trailers need servicing?
We all know the annual servicing and maintenance of a touring caravans and motorhomes is of paramount importance to ensure the ongoing safety of road users and pedestrians but what about light trailers, specifically those leisure related?
The answer is yes, it is just as important! As found during recent DVSA roadside checks which sadly highlight that this type of unit is often overlooked when it comes to regular maintenance.
As members of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Trailer and Towing Safety, the NCC, AWS and both consumer clubs have consistently been advocates of trailer safety education, understanding and regular professional servicing, so are passionate about taking measures to improve awareness amongst all types of trailer owners and road users in the UK.
Aware that many of our members already service light trailers used for boats or horses etc as part of their respective business offerings, AWS have developed in conjunction with various industry experts, an additional approval whereby those offering this type of service have undergone additional training to establish knowledge and competence pertaining to the differences between touring caravans and other light trailers.
